Meet Chris Fields — Your Relationship Coach, Wherever You Are

WIf you found your way here, chances are something in your relationship feels harder than it should — or you’re starting over and want to do it differently this time. Either way, I’m glad you’re here.

I’m Chris Fields, and I help people repair, rebuild, and sometimes simply understand their relationships — whether that means saving a marriage, healing after a breakup, recovering from betrayal, or finally feeling confident enough to date again.

Who I Am

I’m a Marine Corps veteran, a former private investigator, and the author of twelve books on relationships, attachment, and personal change. I hold an ICF-accredited credential as an NLP Master Practitioner, and I’ve spent years working one-on-one with people navigating some of the hardest moments of their relational lives.

That background matters more than it might seem at first. Years spent investigating, interviewing, and reading people for a living taught me how to listen for what’s actually happening beneath what someone is saying — a skill that turns out to be just as useful in a coaching session as it ever was in the field. I bring that same precision and directness to every conversation I have with a client. I’m not here to hand you generic advice. I’m here to help you see your situation clearly enough to actually change it.

What I Do

My coaching practice covers the full range of what people actually go through in their relational lives — not just marriage counseling, and not just one kind of problem:

  • Marriage and relationship repair — for couples working through disconnection, conflict, or the slow drift that happens when life gets in the way of the relationship.
  • Infidelity and betrayal recovery — for anyone rebuilding trust after an affair, whether you’re the one who was hurt or the one trying to make it right.
  • Breakup and divorce recovery — for people processing the end of a relationship and learning how to move forward without carrying the same patterns into what comes next.
  • Dating confidence and readiness — for those re-entering the dating world, whether after years of marriage, a hard breakup, or simply never having felt confident in this part of life.
  • Attachment and relationship patterns — understanding the “why” behind the patterns that keep showing up, so you can actually interrupt them instead of just reacting to them.

Every client’s situation is different, which is why I don’t run a one-size-fits-all program. Some people need a handful of sessions to get unstuck. Others want sustained, ongoing work. We figure that out together.

How I Work — Virtually, From Anywhere

My practice is fully virtual, which means I work with people wherever they are — not just in my own city. Sessions happen over video call, from the comfort and privacy of your own home, on a schedule that fits your actual life. Distance, time zones, and geography aren’t barriers here. If you have an internet connection and an hour, we can do this work together.

For a lot of clients, this turns out to be a real advantage rather than just a convenience. Talking through something as personal as your marriage or your dating life is often easier from a space that already feels safe to you, rather than a waiting room. No driving, no parking, no awkward run-ins in a lobby — just the conversation itself.

The Tool Behind the Work: What NLP Actually Is

You’ll see the letters “NLP” mentioned around my site and in my books, and it’s worth taking a minute to explain what that actually means — because it’s not as mysterious as it sounds, and it’s one of the most practical tools I use.

NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. At its core, it’s the study of how our internal experience — our thoughts, our language, our learned patterns — shapes the way we behave, especially in our closest relationships. The basic idea is simple: the way you talk to yourself about a situation, and the specific language you and your partner use with each other, directly shapes what happens next. Change the pattern, and you change the outcome.

In practice, this means I have specific, structured tools for things that usually feel completely unmanageable from the inside — like breaking a thought loop about an ex you can’t stop replaying, defusing a recurring argument with your partner before it spirals, or building genuine confidence where you used to feel only nerves. These aren’t vague concepts. They’re techniques with actual steps, the same way physical therapy has actual exercises. I use them because they work quickly and because they put the tools directly in your hands, rather than keeping you dependent on a coach indefinitely.

Why Work With Me

I’ve spent my career learning how to read people honestly and help them see their own situation with more clarity than they walked in with. I’ve written more on this subject than almost anyone in my field — twelve books and counting, covering everything from infidelity recovery to attachment theory to breakup healing. And I bring a level of direct, no-nonsense honesty to this work that comes from a background built on discipline, observation, and genuinely caring what happens to the people in front of me.

If you’re ready to stop carrying this alone, I’d like to help.
